We are fully aware that what we do today will influence the environment and the health of tomorrow’s generations. That is why the environmental protection has a systematic approach and it is integrated in our daily business operation and development strategies.
Thus, RAFO observes the principles of “Sustainable development”, “Cleaner production”, “Reduced impact on the environment”.
Through the project of modernisation / reconstruction of the refinery as a petrochemical complex with aromatic hydrocarbons production carried out at SC RAFO SA we intend to limit the impact of refinery’s activities and to promote technologies and activities that maintain the quality of the environment.
The investments program concerning the environment aims at:
- Reducing the consumption of the non-renewable resources by increasing the crude oil processing efficiency;
- Complying with the requirements and deadlines of the aquis communautaire, concerning the quality of products and the environment;
- Applying the BAT (Best Available Techniques) recommendations for the development of “clean” technologies and products, the reduction and prevention of the pollution caused by refinery’s operation and the use of oil products, the reduction of historical pollution, the maximum use of raw materials resources, the reduction of raw materials and energetic consumption, the increase of operational performance, the reduction of operating costs.
All the works included in the Modernisation Program are performed on the basis of Authorizations, Agreements and Permits issued by the local, environmental, emergency situations, sanitary and constructions authorities, in accordance with the legal provisions.
SC RAFO SA complies with all the quality indicators regarding the pollutants emissions in the environment and with the requirements of the European Directives in force and carries out its activity based on:
- The Integrated Environmental Authorization no. 19/29.11.2005 updated on 30.10.2007;
- The Water Management Permit no. 278/29.10.2010;
- The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Permit no. 13/200.
Following the compliance inspection conducted by representatives of Bacau Regional Environmental Protection Agency and National Guard - Bacau County Commissariat, in the Findings Note no. DQ59/12.04.2011 was revealed that SC RAFO SA meets all the requirements of the Integrated Environmental Permit and also the environmental specific legislation provisions.
